Things I can help with…

Establishing a web presence

Nowadays, every business needs to be on the web. The good news is that there are many, many options for establishing your own web site. In fact, there are so many, they’ll make your head spin. It’s sort of like trying to pick a color out of the hundreds in a paint store. I can help you make the right choice by understanding what your business is, who your customers are and how they will use your site.

Moving or rebuilding your web presence

I see a lot of web sites that look dated and have stale, outdated content. Many of them were built in a time before we knew that Web Sites Aren’t Advertising. I can help you re-establish your web presence with more relevant information to the visitors, move it to a less expensive web service provider and take advantage of the really inexpensive, even free services now available on the web.

Email issues

Many businesses who built their sites years ago pay their web site service provider for email. There are two problems with this. First, you’re paying for it. Second, having email with a web site provider tends to lock you into that provider. There are excellent zero-cost solutions for email now that can be independent of your web service provider.

Cloud Computing

If you’re paying for expensive upgrades and maintenance of software you purchased and run on your own servers, you need to seriously consider cloud computing, also known as Software as a Service (SaaS). I can research and help you implement replacements for costly purchased software and servers that will rid you of version upgrades, backups and server maintenance headaches.

Social Media (Blogging, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

Advertising is so 15 minutes ago, as is the concept of getting the word out, pushing the message or interruption marketing. The tide of social media, or engagement marketing is quickly rising. I can help you set up and learn how to use the new tools of marketing and public relations and connect you with knowledgeable professionals in these areas.

Your office network

Personal computers give you a great, inexpensive way to use technology. But if you don’t take care of your office network, you may live to regret it. I can show you how to do dirt-cheap backups to cloud-storage and protect yourself against disk crashes and viruses. I also work with a very experienced and trustworthy hardware and operating system engineer in the New London, CT area. If your Windows PC or server is broken or infected, he can fix it!

Software Development

For my whole career, I’ve written software. I can do the same for you, if the problem requires it. But don’t worry, most don’t. Custom software development is only necessary when you have a highly functional website that does really unique things.

Your problem…

What I’ve found is that there are as many technology issues as there are people who want to use technology. I’d love to hear your tech questions. Drop me a quick message using any of the means on the Contact page and I’ll let you know if I can help you.
