About
My full name is Joseph Cascio, Jr. I’m a career software developer. I’ve worked as a full-time employee or a consultant in several companies-including four startups. My last full-time position was Chief Technology Officer for Heartlab, Inc. (now Agfa Cardiovascular), a cardiology image management company in Westerly, RI. That title may be a bit misleading. My job there was basically to run advanced development programs for the CEO and in that capacity I wrote tons of software, rather than pushing paper and having meetings.
Since then, I’ve turned independent and have gotten deeply into social media. You can find me on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, GoogleBuzz, Twitpic. Of these, Twitter is my main hang-out online. Since I started out video-blogging in 2006, I’ve developed an amazing network of friends and acquaintances through online social networking. These friends have inestimably enriched my knowledge of areas I never ventured into before, like marketing, PR, and Real Estate.
I’ve built some websites like Christ Episcopal Church in Guilford, CT, Smugglers Cove Inn and Restaurant in Maine, and with a talented photographer friend Dana Moos, a food photography site, MyDeliciousMornings.com. I also built and keep reasonably current a personal blog at JoeCascio.net.
Because my friends know I’m a “techie”, they frequently ask me questions about various issues with their computers, software or internet activities. After attending a local small-business discussion group a few times, I realized there are many, many such people who would like to make more use of technology in their businesses but don’t have the time or the inclination to evaluate all the various options and capabilities. It seemed to me that what they needed was simply a friend in the business, a helping hand they can trust, who isn’t trying to sell them on an expensive slate of products or services.
When I’m not in front of my MacBook Pro, you can usually find me on the golf course or at a Tweetup around Connecticut, Rhode Island or Massachusetts.
